Facebook Marketing 101: Understanding the Pros and Cons
Facebook is doubtlessly a tremendous social network which has been able to surpass every other online network. This particular social networking site is allowing users to combine their "real" lives with their online activities, and it's the only one that does. Many different people from all walks of life gather on Facebook to share and learn. For companies that wish to find an innovative and effective way to get their products in front of a focused group of people, Facebook is a very compelling approach. For those of you who have not tapped Facebook for advertising, you need to consider doing so right now. There are a multitude of reasons, but primarily, you should know that Facebook is replete with countless, actual people with a massive range of interests that covers just about everything imaginable. These users dedicate a ton of time to Facebook while they make new friends, interact with the old ones, socialize, play games and hop on board to various interested groups. If you know anything about Facebook, then you can understand how you could be using Facebook as a venue to reach potential customers and effectively market your business with a little smart planning. One of the most important ways to reach your new customer base is to use the Social Ads service this is actually operated by Facebook. It's really quite simple to launch your own ad campaign through Social Ads - just learn a few basics and you're set. Social Ads allows you to focus on target demographics, such as gender, age, location, interests, and more. The high level of customization offered to you affords you the opportunity to not waste time and money on annoyances like accidental clicks and window shoppers. On the contrary, your ad's click-through-rate will only increase and get you a high number of interested visitors to your site. Putting a picture on your ad will make it far more visible to your customers. Your ad will be much more trustworthy for your users, and your ads will become far more reliable and credible. Your ad copy is truly important as well. You need to be sure you have top notch text in your ad. If the words don't really say anything or increase interest there is really no point in having them. For this reason, be sure to choose your words wisely and to test different possibilities. If your budget won't allow for advertising, you can create fan pages or groups on Facebook to help you network with other members and promote your products. If you understand how it works and you do it effectively, even the free tools offered on Facebook can yield amazing results. It seems users of Facebook are addicted to joining groups that represent what they are interested in, or possibly becoming a fan or a certain page. So in turn you should take advantage of this fact by creating a fan page or a group and urge your customers and visitors to join. You also have the opportunity of helping members to invite other members they know to your group by using a built in function that's available. But you will initially have to introduce your fan page to people through some method of advertising it, such as the Social Ads. It is possible for Facebook fan pages and groups to increase by the thousands almost overnight, but only if you have the knowhow to bring them to your site. You should definitely check out the advertising and marketing opportunities on Facebook if you are looking for ways to get ahead of your competitors. It will do nothing but assist your company in reaching new heights. Sometimes, success takes risk. Being willing to take risks and try something new could make all the difference!
3 Easy Ways to Unblock Facebook Access
It is undeniable that Facebook has becoming one of the most popular online social networking websites which connects people globally. First of all, you have to register yourself as one of the users and add anyone you know into your list of friends. Then, you can send instant messages and write comments to your friends anytime you wish to. Besides that, you can actually post up your pictures and at the same time view other people's pictures.
There are lots of games and applications available which make Facebook a nice online site for everyone. However, due to certain controversies, some organizations actually block the access to this website. Do not worry as here are some tips for you to unblock Facebook access in a safe way.
Use Proxy
The first method which is usually being used by most Internet users is to use proxy. Proxy server acts as a middle-person which enables you to surf any websites as usual. Whenever you use a proxy site, your Internet connection will be set to a unique proxy IP address so that you are able to surf the Internet anonymously without any restrictions.
Remote Connection to Your PC
If you are not able to open Facebook website, you can actually remote the Internet connection to your personal PC at home. However, this method requires you to install a special application to both PCs. You can search online for this free application and make sure that your PC can support this installation.
Using Mobile
Apart from the two solutions, another option for you to surf Internet without restrictions is by using mobile. If your mobile has Internet application, you can install Opera and surf the site from your mobile. This method is much easier and faster.
Now that you have known some of the easy ways to unblock Facebook access, try it out whenever your access to Facebook is restricted. This often happens at schools and offices!
At the end, I'd like to share cool websites with more information on topics like Unblock Facebook and Proxy Sites. Visit for more details.

Where Do You Begin To Blog With Making Money Online In Mind
Blogging is a very good source from which to make money online. Blogging is a money making source that is very easy to set up and to keep on top of. You can write whenever you want and it's great to write only the things that are of interest to you and or your business. Your blog is accessible from anyplace you have access to the internet so it allows you extreme flexibilit. Work on it when you want and from anyplace with an internet connection. Making steady money online uses as many resources as you can, blogging being one of them.
You can set up a blog that costs you nothing but of course there are blogs that cost you the price of hosting. Below is how you can set up a blog from which you can make money online or in other ways as well.
The first thing you need to do to support your "how to make money online ideas" is to obtain a blog. There are several excellent blog options but for starting out you can get a free blog at Googles blogger.com or Wordpress.com. Both are easy to use and set-up to be ready to write about your favorite or any subject.
Wordpress bloggs are very robust and their rules are tight for those who want to use it to blog about how to make money online and place links in the blogs. You can expand wordpress as well. Blogger.com blog is a little easier to deal with and because it is owned by Google may be faster detected on Google's radar and thus indexed faster something very nice relating to links when you want to make money online.
Wordpress.com, however, is also indexed by Google and other search engines and it has some more advanced features such as Trackbacks and Categories. You can also manage your sidebar links more efficiently (more about this later).
Once you get your blog, at for example blogger or wordpress, familiarize yourself by posting your first post on your blog and tinkering around with the options and templates. Blogging is not something you use to make money online fast so take some time and familiarize yourself with your new blog.
Here are a few common "blog-related" words to help you out:
1) Permalink - Permalink stands for permanent link is a URL that leads to an individual post that you make in your blog.
2) Pinging - Blogging seems to be associated with pinging almost every time either one is mentioned nowadays. Pinging is actually the action where a certain location on the internet is notified whenever your blog is updated, so that that location may show the newest post of your blog on their website. This is a useful way to gaining traffic, which we shall discuss later.
Blogging doesn't have to be for the purpose of making money online but it certainly helps when you are in business and intend to make money online. You may have one or several make money online ideas and blogging can further those efforts - something I'll talk about in another article. Also we'll discuss later, tips on how to write posts that keep visitors glued and keep coming back for more!

How To Earn a Living Writing Articles Online
Writing articles on the Internet is a good way to earn some extra cash on the Internet. The thing about writing articles online is, you can make as much money as you want.
Unfortunately, many writers don't know this and usually get caught in the writing sweatshop mill. This is when you write articles for a low amount like $3 per article. Writers can make really good money writing and selling their own pre-written articles. To get paid to write articles is not a hard task. Here is how you can sell articles on your own website without breaking a sweat:
Create a website with your pre-written articles on it. Selling pre-written articles can supplement your income when regular ‘writing jobs' are scarce.
To appeal to webmasters, you could make more sales if you limited what type of articles you write. For example, many writers will only sell health articles. For one, the search engines will drive more traffic to your site if you focus on one topic.
To set up your website, you can use a free website at Blogger. Don't worry that your clients will look down on your site because it is free.
In fact, Blogger is very well known in the online world and is very trusted. People are more concerned with the content you have on the site and the overall look than rather it is a free domain or not. In fact, having a free domain on a blog is a little more acceptive than having a free domain on a regular website.
After you set up your free Blogger blog, you will now need to write at least 5 original articles. Make sure they are free from grammar and spelling errors. You should make all articles at least 500 words. Now, the key to selling original articles is to do your own research. Don't just find an article and then rewrite it because it will show up in the Copyscape test as a duplicate.
You should research your own articles as if you were writing an essay. Take bits and pieces from different sources and re-write them in your own words. Now, package the articles together as an E-book (you don't have to do this but it makes it easier to deliver the articles upon purchase).
Now, write a blog post and include a sales page. Make sure the sales page has the word count, article title and a brief sample of the article about 4-5 sentences long. This should be done for all 5 articles. Now, it is time to add your Paypal button. You can get the html code for a ‘buy now' button to place in the sales page.
So what do you charge for these 5 articles? Charge whatever you think your work is amount, although I suggest anything under $50. For these 5 articles, $47 seems to be a really good deal. This means you will get paid about $9.40 for each article. This is a whole lot better than writing 5 articles for $10 such as with some writing places like Associated Content.
Will people buy? Yes, because webmasters and publishers will always need content. They will have more faith in you with the more articles you sell them. The key to really making money online writing is to get clients that keep coming back for more!
You can also increase your chances of selling your articles by including writing samples. Also, people are more comfortable buying articles from sellers who have a verified Paypal account. It lets them know you are legit and really don't have anything to hide.
Make sure to include the terms of the articles as well. When selling pre-written articles online, it is better to offer full rights (or exclusive rights) to the buyer. This is because the buyer of these articles would like to claim themselves as the original writer. Some buyers of articles also resell the content for a higher price on their own website.
In other words, your articles will sell faster if you offer full rights. Make sure to include your contact info so that buyers of your articles will trust you. They may have questions about the terms of the articles and your prior writing history.
Some other things to take note of when selling your articles: Always try to stick to one topic.
While you may think it easier to offer a large topic of articles at once, the online selling business does not work like this anymore. Now that everyone is starting to open an online business, it is getting harder to sell products/services on the Internet. You will need to learn about conversion rates and how to write the perfect blog post title to sell your articles. Be as specific as possible in order to grab the attention of web surfers who may be looking for quality articles for sell.
If you are not confident enough to sell your own articles on the Internet, you could use content marketplaces like Constant-Content and DailyArticle.com. This way, you will not have to do a lot of advertising or marketing.
There are some cons to using sites like these: for one, the competition is very high as many people are looking to get paid online writing articles. Also, certain topics sell better than others. It does help to look for hot topics at YahooBuzz before deciding on a topic to write on.

What The Most Powerful Autoblogging Software does is that it uses complex algorithms to directly visit each link in the RSS feed and grab the full content and post to your blog. In doing this, it removes items like links, ad codes, scripts, images, etc. which are part of the content but are not relevant to the particular post in the RSS feed. The software filters out unwanted stuff. Other auto blogging tools post whatever is displayed at the source website, making your site classified as spam or junk blog.

The software has a feature to allow you schedule the posts with intervals between each post, making the blog appear natural to the search engines. You can schedule posts for days, weeks, months or even years. It is advisable to maintain a maximum of 4 posts per day to each blog in order not to have the blogger blog suspended by Google.
6. Multiple Blogs Management - With the installation of the software on your computer, you can manage thousands of blogs. This is unlike other autoblogging software that would have to be installed into each blog as a plugin. Imagine the time this would take you if you had to install the plugin to 1000 blogs.
The Bad Side
a. Grammatical Errors In Translation - Computers are not yet able to fully understand human languages. Hence, some sentences in the translated RSS feeds sometimes contain grammatical errors. If you want to manage few niche blogs with few articles, it is good to check for any errors and make necessary corrections before allowing the software to start posting. However, if your intention is to manage a blog empire with hundreds or thousands of niche blogs, I think you have no other choice than to leave them like that. The advantage of this is that your adsense click-through rate will increase because visitors would want to get out of your blog by clicking any link they see on your website.
b. Encourages Laziness - Using an automated blogging software makes you lazy because everything is already done for you. Depending too much on a software will prevent you from learning and understanding the individual niche markets and be able to develop a close relationship with your readers.
c. Conflicting Views - Autoposting content to your blogs could make your blog contain some conflicting views on the same issues. Conflicting views will be posted to the blog because you cannot monitor all the posts one by one if the items to be posted are many.
Conclusion
Investing in The Most Powerful Autoblogging Software will not be a waste because it will definitely yield the returns expected. If you are really serious about making money online or you just want to test the waters as to the most profitable niche markets, this is a software you should go for. The software is of high value and high quality at an extremely affordable price. One of the best tools around for the money you pay, and well worth the small investment.
Happy blogging with automatic blog posting!

What Does Blogging Mean?
Written By John Collins
Blog is the condensed name for a "weblog" or "web log".
Blogging is the action you perform when you make a post to a web log or blog, comment on a previous blog post or maintain a blog. Many people who make posts to a blog on a regular basis are referred to as bloggers.
Basically, a blog is an online journal where you can post your thoughts, observations and comments about a particular topic that the weblog covers. A blog is just a simple web page that has chunks of information called posts added to them on a regular basis. Depending on how it was setup by the person maintaining the blog, the posts can be all on one page forcing visitors to scroll down, or each post will have its own individual web page. When you are blogging and visiting different blogs, you will see the most recent posts first at the top of the web page.
The Uses of Blogging
Online personal journals were some of the first blogs. Individuals used their computers and the technology of the internet to make entries into their journals rather than the traditional method of keeping a pen and paper journal. Blogs are primarily categorized as personal since many of them are online journals but today many blogs are used for a variety of purposes. Businesses are starting to use blogs as a way to provide information about their products and services. Politicians are using blogs to communicate with their constituents. Musicians and other entertainers are using blogging as a means to stay in touch with their fans as they tour. The list goes on.
Often, blogging is a way for you the individual to post a comment on a particular news item or subject such as politics, world or local news events, hobbies, entertainment etc. The topics covered in a blog are endless, and many times controversial and volatile. Sometimes one simple post can lead to a flood of additional comments and many have gone so far as to gain national attention by being mentioned in the news media.
Blogging Software and Services
Originally, blog posts are mostly text based. However, changes in internet technology and online services have given rise to other ways to make posts such as using video and audio (also known as podcasting). Now today a typical blog will have a combination of text, photos, video, and audio as well as links to other blogs and websites that are related to the topic of the blog.
Blogging has taken off and grown in popularity over the years. Now, a blog can be setup in a matter of minutes with little or no cost. There are varieties of hosting sites that will allow you to setup a blog free, and many web hosts now offer ways to quickly and easily install a variety of blogging software such as WordPress or MoveableType.
Along with quickly setting up a blog, many of the free online blogging services easily provide ways to allow you to make video and audio posts on your blog. They also offer other features such as password protecting your blog so you can keep your thoughts and feelings private, or allow only a select few in to view your blog. You are also able to pick the look or theme of your blog from literally thousands of different templates available; this is a great way to express your own individuality with your blog.
One of the most widely used free blogging services today is Blogger.com, which is owned by Google. In three easy steps, you can setup your very own blog and start expressing your thoughts and views to the world. After you setup your blog, you can make posts to it at any time day or night. The blogging services today are so easy to use and you do not need to have any technical knowledge of HTML or any other web coding language. In fact, if you can use a word processing program such as Notepad or MSWord, you can start blogging today.
How Blogging Benefits You
Blogging has been mostly been used for personal thoughts, professional observations, political rants, and entertainment reviews. However, there are so many more reasons to start blogging. One of the biggest benefits I have found is staying connected with my family and friends. I live on the west coast but grew up on the east coast. Through blogging, my family and I are able to stay connected and share things even though we live thousands of miles apart. We can share photos and post videos and audio files that let us remain a part of each other's lives.
Through your blog, you can share with the world your thoughts about any topic you like. Having a blog is one of the easiest ways to stay in contact with others and communicate with others who have the same interests that you do. Everyone has something to say and wants to be heard when they say it. Blogging allows you to share your experiences, joys, laughter and pain. With a blog, you can find answers to your questions, learn new, exciting and wonderful things, comfort a friend or be comforted at times. Remember, the benefits that can come from having a blog are as wide and varied as the different topics that a blog can cover.

How to Promote Your Blog or Website with a Charitable Fundraiser
Recently, I hosted a "blogathon" on my weblog to celebrate its second anniversary and to raise funds for a local environmental organization. I agreed to spend 24 hours online blogging, and readers could make a "per-post" pledge to the organization, which they multiplied by the number of posts I made to determine their donation. While my readers and I raised a sizeable sum, I quickly realized that combining an online event with a charitable fundraiser created a powerful means of promoting my blog and increasing its readership. Hosting the event created a "win-win" situation that allowed me to both contribute to a cause I believe in and gain wide exposure in 24 hours that I couldn't have obtained otherwise without spending large sums of money.
In this age of ridiculous get-rich-quick schemes and too-good-to-be-true promotional opportunities, the internet marketer can make his/her site stand out from the crowd and attract new customers/readers/clients by doing something many consider unthinkable: raising money for someone else. I've seen the rewards of such an effort, and will share them with you. First, though, I'll show you how I created, managed and promoted my event, and how I received help from much more established blogs and websites in making it happen.
Creating and Organizing the Event
I choose to celebrate my blog's second anniversary because I saw it as a milestone: blogs and web sites come and go quickly, so having succeeded for two years deserved a celebration. Keep in mind that many occasions might hold potential for an event: an anniversary or another milestone (say, a blog's thousandth post), a holiday, a release of a product, a famous person's birthday the possibilities are endless.
I choose a local environmental organization because my blog focuses on issues of environmental sustainability. A quick scan of a local non-profit directory should provide plenty of ideas if you don't already have one in mind. I suggest staying local because you'll likely have more luck making and keeping contact with individuals at the organization. I also suggest picking an organization with a mission similar to your own you'll enjoy the process more, and the organization will be happier to help you promote the event if you're already involved in their cause. No matter what your subject matter, you should have no trouble finding numerous organizations worthy of your efforts.
Contact the organization ahead of time. This will head off any embarrassment in case they're contacted about your event, and they will have resources such as press contacts that will be very helpful once you begin promoting.
Contact other bloggers and/or webmasters and ask them to pitch in. I got in touch with many people with similar sites and asked them to contribute a post to my effort. Most were happy to help, as they receive greater exposure and also get to contribute to a cause they also believe in. Nearly all of them announced the event on their blog as the time drew near.
Ask your readers and others for donations. I took pledges prior to the event, and kept a record of the pledgers' names, email addresses and amounts pledged. I was fortunate that the organization already had a web-based donation system in place, so I only had to send my readers to that page to make their donation. I think that not having to handle the money added to the credibility of my effort, as it was clear I wasn't running a scam
Start promoting. I began promoting my effort about a month before the event itself. I devoted posts to explaining the event, and describing different efforts that the organization was taking to promote environmental awareness and action. I sent out press releases to local and online media, and appeared on a local community radio station's environmental program.
The Event
When the day came, I had prepared ahead of time by locating information on which I could post, and collecting guest posts from other bloggers. I set myself a schedule of 2-3 posts per hour, and spread the guest posts throughout the event. I must admit that I didn't quite make the 24 hours (after about 22 , I was beat), but did reach my goal (which I'd publicized) of fifty posts (including guest posts) during the event.
The Results
Both regular and new readers "showed up" during the event with comments, emails, and updates to their own blogs and sites, and several tried to stay up the whole twenty-four hours with me.
My visitor numbers quadrupled during the event, and have remained much higher than they were prior to it.
My TTLB Ecosystem ranking jumped about a thousand places, and I went from "Adorable Little Rodent" to "Marauding Marsupial."
I've attracted about 25 new subscribers on Bloglines alone.
My Feedburner feed circulation increased by 50%.
Almost a week later, I'm still trying to respond to commenters. I don't have exact numbers, but I've never had the amount of conversation on the blog that I had during the event.
I'm still watching the long-term results, but, without a doubt, holding this event allowed me to take my blog to at least the next level in terms of readership and exposure. While an event itself would have gotten some notice, choosing to celebrate while also raising funds for a non-profit gave the community around my blog several reasons to spread the word, join in the effort and even discuss it afterwards. It was a rewarding experience in a number of ways, and I can't wait until this time next year to build on these initial successes.

How to Add RSS Feeds in Five Minutes or Less
I'm here to teach you about how RSS Feeds can boost traffic for your website. You may have heard of it, but I guarantee you are not harnessing the full power of the tool. RSS Feeds are very hot, and the marketing pro's are getting their websites listed in Google within 2 to 3 days.
What is an RSS Feed?
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." Think of RSS this way: Whenever a writer who belongs to a syndicate writes a column, they don't just write it for their local paper, every article goes up on the newswire and any paper who belongs to the syndicate can reprint it.
First, you have to download an RSS Reader, a program that combines all the news online in one place. You can download a reader for free at www.RssReader.com. Once you've downloaded a reader, you can click any topic that suits your need, and only those topics will be delivered right to you..
Why would I put RSS on my website?
An RSS feed can be thought of like this. Let's take five news sources (Yahoo, MSN, CNN, ESPN, FOX). An RSS reader would scan all five news sources and take each headline and create a summary of the article. Now, you can actually sort the news stories and have only the ones you are interested in delivered right to your website from all five news sources. Search Engines are crawling websites and looking for fresh content. If you have an RSS Feed, you are getting up to the minute news stories. These constantly change whenever a new story comes out. The Search Engines will give you a higher Page Rank because it thinks your page is updated on a regular basis.
How do I add one to my website?
I tried an RSS Feed for the first time, and it took less than five minutes. Here's what it looks like:
Bush Celebrates Shuttle's Launch (AP) NASA sends shuttle back into space after long pause (Reuters) Shuttle Discovery Blasts Into Orbit (AP) NASA's aging workhorse returns to space (AFP) NASA Returns to Flight as Discovery Reaches Orbit (SPACE.com / LiveScience.com)
As you can see, this is my very first RSS Feed. All the news stories within the last hour regarding the shuttle launch are now listed for me and my visitors to read. Guess what? It took less than 5 minutes, and I instantly have an RSS Feed.
Why do I need one?
Search Engines are crawling your site and if you are not providing quality, up to the minute content then you are getting placed further down the rankings. Your competition who has this information is getting FREE advertising from the Search Engines who are placing their page 1st or 2nd when users search for a particular keyword.
How do I put an RSS Feed on my site?
You can now place an RSS Feed on your website in THREE easy steps.
Step 1: Search for topics that you are currently interested in (use Yahoo).
When you see an orange RSS or XML box like the one above, you know that article is compatible with a feed. Copy the URL of the webpage.
Step 2: Go to http://www.feeddigest.com and paste the URL in the digest for them to create a two line code for your webpage. You can also copy and paste the long page of code if you understand programming.
Step 3: In Frontpage, Go to Insert - a web component - html markup and paste the two or three line script that RSS Digest gave you. Check it out! Your first RSS Feed! Try it yourself right now, create your first RSS feed in under five minutes, FREE! The only way you can truly learn about them is for you to JUMP in FEET FIRST!

Affiliate Marketing - How I Get Free Traffic To My Websites
Getting free traffic is crucial in the early days of affiliate marketing. After years of experimenting, read on to find out my ways of building free traffic without spending a penny.
Affiliate marketing can be so much more profitable if you don't have to pay for traffic. In the early days, it really was critical for me not to spend any money at all with my marketing. These days, I still enjoy the pleasures of free traffic, even though I can now certainly afford paid for marketing campaigns. Here I'm going to share with you my top methods for bringing traffic to my websites for free.
Use SEO -
In the early days, I didn't know much about SEO. Now I spend time selecting relevant keywords and using them in all of my content. Surprisingly, even when I don't use keywords, my content can often perform well in the search engines on terms that I haven't spent time carefully selecting.
Monitor The Analytics -
I spend time analysing where my traffic is coming from. Once I find a method that is working for me, I will scale it up and reuse it for my other websites. When you build your websites, be sure to add Google Analytics to your site so that you too can monitor and measure your results.
Article Marketing -
As part of my marketing plan, article marketing really does pay off. Just by adding two new articles per week that offer relevant and educational content, I enjoy many visits to my sites from targeted traffic. Articles often get redistributed around the web, and with my link and information going with it, it can bring through many new customers that otherwise I could not have reached.
Blogging -
This is another way that I can get free traffic. Not only do I spend time researching and writing useful blog posts that are relevant to my readers, I spend time building relationships in the blogging community. By reading and commenting the blog posts of others, the owners and readers of other blogs will click through to my site to see what I have to say. My blog posts can often show up in the search engine results too, which will bring another stream of traffic.
Social Media -
Tools such as Twitterfeed and Hootsuite play a part for me here. I can schedule my status updates to include my blog posts in Facebook and Twitter. LinkedIn is another social networking favourite where it is possible to target my markets easily and many customers have been brought through to my site through the groups available on LinkedIn.
Forums -
More targeted market networking can be performed in forums. The questions, issues and discussions contained in forums provide me with information on what the consumers are concerned about and I can also build relationships by helping out with information and I sometimes can post links to relevant blog posts that I have created or even to my products. All these links come through my site and build my traffic stats.
The most effective way to market for free traffic in affiliate marketing, is to build a marketing plan that you commit to. For example, each week I know that I need to write 2 articles, 5 blog posts and that I need to distribute the blog posts across the net. In my plan, I write down where I will distribute them so that my tasks are specific and measurable. Free traffic is essential in affiliate marketing, and once you have got it, your profits really will begin to look how you hoped they would when you started out.

How To Get Your Web Site Content Syndicated
By Kalena Jordan and Dan Thies
3 December 2002
[Kalena] Following our successful experiment of setting up a news feed for my site, search engine marketer Dan Thies and I have joined forces to write this article to show other webmasters how they can do the same for their own sites.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, let me set the scene...
Being the web-mistress of a resource site about search engine marketing, I'm always on the lookout for new ways to promote my site. Like many other web site owners, I don't have an enormous marketing budget and must rely on my own resources to spread the word about my content.
As you would expect, one effective method of promotion that I utilize is search engine optimization. This ensures the search engines regularly visit my site and update my pages in their indexes. Another is the circulation of a regular newsletter. But the real secret to attracting more traffic is to add bucket loads of fresh content. Providing you promote this new content effectively, it can act like a magnet on your site, pulling in new visitors every single day and giving you the opportunity to turn those visitors into loyal followers or, (if you sell products and services), paying customers.
Fresh content improves the "stickiness" of your site too - giving visitors a reason to return to your site on a regular basis. And of course the search engines reward popular sites with more link popularity and a higher search ranking. Adding new site content is one thing, but just how do you spread the word about this new content and place it in front of potential visitors?
Well take my site for example. I had recently added a web log (known on the Internet as a "blog") about the search engine industry, which I updated daily with news and articles. I had seen similar sites having their content syndicated on industry news portals such as Moreover, ClickZ, ZDNet etc and I wanted a piece of the action. Problem was I had no idea how to go about this.
A fellow moderator in the ihelpyou search engine forums (Dan) told me I required an "RSS Feed" - a special file containing the content I wanted syndicated - so that the news sites could grab it from my site instantly. Dan offered to give me a hand to set up the file and so began our quest! I'll let Dan take over from here and explain exactly how we did it and how you can set up your own news feed. Here's Dan...
[Dan] Thanks Kalena. An RSS news feed provides information about your site's content that enables other sites to effectively link to it. There are actually a few different flavors of RSS for purposes of this article, we'll work with RSS version 0.91, which is the most commonly used on the web today. We'll also focus on the very basic elements of a news feed, and leave the advanced stuff for another time.
The RSS file itself is a fairly simple text file. Although it uses an XML language format, the code will be pretty familiar to anyone who has worked with HTML to edit web pages.
Let's look at a simplified version of the RSS file we created for Kalena's site:

An RSS feed consists of one or more "channels." A single channel will be sufficient for the majority of sites. Each channel, in turn, contains information about one or more news articles.
A channel consists of the following required information:
Title: the name of the channel (in the above example, Kalena's channel title is called "Search Engine News Blog")
Link: the URL for the channel's main web page (the page on Kalena's site where the news items are displayed)
Description: a description of the channel's purpose and content
The first two lines in our RSS feed example define this as an RSS feed. The tag comes next and contains the required information about this news channel (as listed above). Optional information follows these items and includes language, copyright info, contact email addresses, and an image (logo) that can be displayed with the channel's headlines. The above example contains all these options, but you can leave these out of your own feed if you prefer.
In addition to the required information, the channel must contain at least one news item.
>> News items consist of the following:
Title: this is the headline that will be displayed for the news item
Link: the URL where the full news item can be found (for best results, each item should be on its own unique web page)
Description: a description of the news item sometimes referred to as a "teaser."
The first two elements are the minimum expected by nearly all sites that carry headlines. The description field is optional, as some syndicators will ignore this field altogether, posting only the item headline. Because of this, Kalena's RSS file does not include item descriptions.
Below that, you'll see two news items listed, "Google Defines Ethical SEO" and "Yahoo Offends Gay Community in UK". Additional news items would follow the same format and be listed directly below within-
tags. Finally, the last two lines of the feed are closing tags XML, like HTML, requires opening and closing tags.

You can create your own simple RSS file with just about any text editor I set up the sample above with Notepad. Once you've created the text file, do the following:
Save the file with .rss as the extension (example: mynews.rss) and upload it to the main folder of your website.
Validate your RSS feed by running it through the RSS Validator to make sure it's set up correctly.
Display the "valid RSS" logo on your site (available from the link above) and provide a visible link to your feed (link: http://www.mydomain.com/mynews.rss) from your site page/s. You could say something like Kalena uses on her site: Webmasters! Click below to feature our Search Engine News Blog headlines on your site. RSS Feed For This Page.
(optional) Create a javascript version of the RSS feed to enable other webmasters to syndicate your content on their sites (the Wytheville Community College News Center provides this service for free).
Submit your feed to content aggregators. Some sources are provided below.
Update your feed regularly by adding new items to the .rss file and ensuring each item has it's own link on your web site.
To keep your feed fresh, try to keep your channel items to a maximum of five, deleting older items from your feed as you update it. The dates next to your news items will adjust depending on when content aggregators pick them up.
So, that's the basics of RSS! We have only been able to scratch the surface in this short lesson, but it's enough to get you started. A complete description of the RSS 0.91 format can be found at http://backend.userland.com/rss, and more resources on creating your own newsfeed can be found here:

How to Set Up a Blog the Media Will Love
Not long ago I attended a call with some of the top journalists working today. And I learned that not only do 79% of these editors find their sources and their story ideas from blogs -- a healthy number start their day by reading their favorites. An editor from Wired said he actually spends TWO HOURS PER DAY reading blogs.
Wow!
So that means, platform builders, we need blogs that are media savvy. Here's my Top Ten list of Things the Media Savvy Blog Must Have. (Remember, our job is to make the media's job ridiculously simple!)
1. Use keyword-rich headers and descriptions, And make sure you make those same keywords your categories. This is why I'm always harping on how important it is for folks to spend time building their keyword list -- and researching it on sites like Overture and www.wordtracker.com
2. Feedblitz. Gotta have that little subscribe box in your upper right hand corner. Then Feedblitz sends the subscriber an email with an excerpt every time you post. Available at www.feedblitz.com
3. Sitemeter. The preferred counter among those who know because it spits the only number that matters, Unique Visitors, your way once per week by email. How convenient! www.sitemeter.com
4. Link to your Media Page. A simple typelist link in the margin will do it -- there's a great example at Andy Wibbel's blog/site at www.andywibbels.com I love how Andy is a master of simplicity. Link this to your media room on your regular site. (What's a media room? Where the media find you, of course!)
5. Set up a sign up form that downloads a digital freebie. Find a system that supports it -- my favorite is 1shoppingcart.com, which collects the data and then delivers an autoresponder with download links in it. This is a great list building tool.
6. Use pictures. I think they make the blog seem more readable, and appealing to the visual types. I get good fr.ee.graphics from Google (just click the Images link after you do a search.) Also there are some great cheap shots to be head from www.istockphoto.com which are only one dollar apiece.
7. Lots of links in posts. It's not only blog etiquette, it's a way to attract SE spiders and bots to your blog posts. They love content rich blogs with lots of outgoing links.
8. Write with brevity. I'm working in this. Make shorter, more frequent posts to drive SE traffic. And keep your blog as casual and 'free wheeling' as it's meant to be.
9. Typelists -- copy in the margins -- that have visuals and important short captions drive traffic to site. I get a great sales conversion rate from my blog because people like my product shots in the margin. Small, snappy covers will do with a bit of short descriptive copy.
10.Audio clips. In this, the age of podcasting, it can't hurt! You can create audio links through sites like www.audioblog.com

How to Submit URL Search Engine to Increase Visitor Numbers
Knowing how to submit URL to a search engine could help in increasing the number of visitors to your Web site through organic search. Let's say you are planning to create the next big thing in Internet content, you cannot do it without having your uniform resource locator (URL) or Web address linked to the biggest search engines in the online community.
Submitting your URL to various search engines like Yahoo!, Google and MSN only takes a few click of the mouse and you're all set. However, this does not guarantee that your site will become instantly popular and will be inundated with visitors. There is a lot more to having an online presence than submitting your address to major search engines.
How to increase visitor traffic
The first thing that a Web master needs to consider in increasing online traffic is the content of the site. Not only should it be relevant, unique and informative; it should also have the proper keyword density or should be search engine optimized.
So now we come to search engine optimization (SEO). This means that the site is search engine friendly or has the right tags, keywords and content that will make it a highly-ranked resource in major search engines. Aside from SEO, another step that a Web site operator can take to improve his search engine ranking is the development of links from well-known and established Web sites. Link development can be achieved through fee-based directory submissions and direct links with related sites.
Submission to major search engines
Submitting your URL to search engines can be for free or on a fee-based basis. The first step is getting your site registered to these search engines. If your site does not have a lot of related or similar tags and content, then free registration is just fine. In cases like this, you just need to optimize your site so that it will have a higher ranking than similar or related URLs.
However, if your site or its keywords are common or have a lot of related sites, then pay-per-click search is an option that you can explore to increase site traffic. This means that for every visitor who will click on your site, you will be charged a certain fee. The main advantage is that you'll be on the top list of sites with similar content. Most sites that are included in paid listings are those that are highly relevant and have chances of having entities willing to advertise at their sites.
Before you submit URL to a search engine, familiarize yourself with the factors that can help your Web address become popular among online visitors. Content, link and keywords are just some of the few considerations that you need to examine before you can establish a solid online presence.

Ways to improve your placement on Search Engines
How to Generate Traffic to your Website or blogsite
Some people assume if you make a few posts and then submit it to the search engines then the traffic will just come automatically. Unfortunately it's not as easy as that. Be patient. Many search engines take weeks to get in the system. The most effective way of promoting any website is by creating valuable content. It is important to have something of value to offer to your visitors. Adding quality content to your website or blog is the best way to keep visitors returning. Not only will it keep them coming back to see updates, it will also encourage them to create links to your website or blog. Make sure that you update your content regularly. The purpose of having a website or blog is to attract regular visitors. When submitting you website, keep in mind that there are essentially two types of search engines. Robot engines send a "robot" to your site to capture and catalog all the info on your site. These include Webcrawler,Excite, Lycos, Alta Vista, Infoseek, Hotbot and Inktomi. The second type only uses the info that you give it. These include Yahoo, EINet Galaxy, World Wide Yellow Pages. If you have worked really hard on your blog, yet no one is reading it then try reading and commenting on other blogs. Make sure that you comment on the topic at hand. Don't ask them to come and visit your blog. Write valuable comments and leave a link to your blog.
Write good quality articles and submit them to article directories. Writing and submitting articles is an easy way to drive traffic back to your website and doesn't cost a penny. Article directories are very popular and there are always new ones sprouting up all over. When a webmaster or blogger uses one of your articles it increases your web exposure through back links to your blog or website
If you want to drive traffic to your website or blog and keep visitors returning then why not consider giving something of value away. Giving items away for free is a great way to increase traffic. Some of the things that you can give away are free downloads, free ebooks or a free audio download. If you run a community, you might suggest that your members donate something to give away as a way of supporting their community. Holding a contest is another great way to increase traffic.
Promise yourself that you will blog on a daily basis and stick to it. It only takes up a few minutes of your day and your website traffic will soar. If you were to ask any SEO professional they will definitely agree that search engines are love new content. That being said you must ensure all your blogs are of interest to your customers and readers. Never blog unless you have something valuable to say that your customers will want to hear. Be sure that your site is COMPLETELY ready and online before you list your site with any search engines.

Tips to boost traffic, increase website visibility, and let the world know you exist
Directories help locate websites within specific or definite categories. The difference between search engines and directories is that, directories feature only vetted websites, sites that have a certain standard and contain information of substance.
One of the aims of using directories is to boost traffic. To achieve this, one must choose to be featured in large, organized directories like Yahoo, DMOZ, and LookSmart. These will drive highly targeted traffic to you site (subject specific), increase significantly the link popularity, and Google PageRank.
To maximize exposure:
Find a category that is most relevant to your website. The category and subcategories must totally fit the subject of your site and its purpose. For example, if your site is health related business the site must feature under health and not business. Only then, will surfers seeking health related websites access yours. Do a keyword search that is relevant to your site on the directory. The directory will throw up categories relevant to the key words. Choose one which is suited in all aspects.
Coin a title and description that will boost traffic not reduce it. The title must be "dead on." It should include the most important key word and if possible begin with a letter towards the beginning of the alphabet. And, the 15-25 word description should succinctly summarize the purpose or functions of your site. While being descriptive and informative, try and weave in as many keywords pertaining to your site as possible.
Purchase keywords from one of the pay-per-click search engines or directories.
Make the website search engine friendly.

Promote Referral Program URL, Increase Traffic And Save Your Business In This Economic Crisis!
The referral program can be the answer in this world economic crisis.
Everybody is searching in places where they've never been before trying to make their businesses thrive in the desperate economic scenario. But, most individuals tend to forget one of the best ways to bring in new and previous business is ‘word of mouth', known today as references. Whether you have an online or offline business, establishing a referral program can bring the much desired success. You're most likely wondering a stream of things like: how to create a referral program, or which way to implement a referral program, or how to promote referral program among many different things. Before addressing any of these queries, we must first clarify what precisely is a referral program and how it works.
A referral program is a marketing plan, whose goal is to increase traffic and the number of clients based on word of mouth. This implies that you make an effort to generate the best customer encounter in all aspects and then ask the customers to spread a good word for you or your service to others. In the online scenario this is done by making each customer or affiliate to promote referral program URL. Of course as you know, nothing is free in life and this may come at a cost. Therefore, with a referral program you can give clients or members of the program a compensation for each referral that becomes a sale. This can be done by establishing a referral reward program. Doing this motivates the customers and program participants, known as referrers or affiliates, to refer as many people as possible so as to earn additional cash and whatever bonuses you will be giving as part of the referral program and to market referral program URL.
You are most likely currently thinking, what is the correct proportion or right percentage to give to your referrers and referral business. That is pretty much up to you, your operational costs and your sales or your referral center. Each referral program works more or less the same; however, compensation systems vary incredibly. Some incentive programs provide a bonus once. Others supply a percentage commission out of a purchase made by their referral; while others offer both and an additional incentive program or rewards program for a large variety of recent referrals. Because you own the business then it is up to you to decide which system most closely fits your customer referral program, and referral business goals; and what will work best for your kind of operation or referral program examples.
Remember, a smart referral program has 2 purposes: One is to search out to new customers and give your sales a lot of needed momentum and the second is to assist in promoting your product, program or service. By making each affiliate to promote their referral letter, banners, splash pages or promote referral program link. Referral program marketing is one of the oldest ways of social program promotion and remains one of the most effective, if properly implemented. A referral program can increase traffic to website very easy. It can be done once and not require customers to continue making referrals. And keep in mind that almost all referral programs support themselves; particularly since the commission or compensation of sales can be paid with the purchases made by newly referred customers.

Blogs - Tips to Increase Business Awareness and Profits
The use of blogs as part of an Internet business is now regarded as one of the best ways to help promote websites. Blogs are seen from the search engine point of view as important as they are normally updated on a regular basis.
The best way to start using blogs is to focus on one niche for each blog and then to write good content on a regular basis. Once you have a reputation on a particular subject you will receive visitors wanting to read the latest posts.
Try to write informative and helpful posts that will keep visitors returning. It is a good idea to write a snippet (a short version of an article) for example with a link to the full article.
There are many sites to help promote blogs that will bring traffic to your blogs. It is normally a good way of getting targeted traffic to your other websites by linking from blogs.
Search engines like blogs because they offer updated or new content that is useful to their visitors.
Whereas normal websites use keywords as a means of getting visitors. Search engines will display their results based on the keyword phrases entered and then show the most relevant pages that have those keywords in their content.
The advantage with blogs is that it is possible to use tags for posts. Tags operate in a similar way to keywords. For example if a post is made about home theater screens, then if it is posted using that tag then anyone searching on the various sites that use tags will find that post.
The big advantage to this method is that for each tag that the sites like Technorati for example will show the posts with the newest one at the top of the results shown.
So if using a very popular tag or subject then this can be a way of getting a lot of traffic.
It is also possible to receive news of the latest posts from blogs by using RSS feeds, which notifies anyone who adds your feed to their sites. This is a great way to get traffic back to your sites.
Another benefit of using blogs is that visitors can leave a message to posts made. This is a good way to interact with your visitors and can build on a good business relationship.
This is a good way to find what visitors think of your site and what type of information they may be looking for.
When you offer good content that is updated often, then visitors will also start to link to your blogs which apart from giving a feel good factor will help with search engine results.
If people start linking from high Google PR sites then this will really make a big difference in the search engines as this is regarded as an important and relevant site.
It is usually difficult to get many links from high PR sites for new sites but add good content regularly and it will become easier.

Increase New Customer Traffic To Your Business
One person tells another, who tells another, who tells another and so on. You get the idea. Let's see how to make that an actuality.
You have a great company and you provide the highest level of customer service. But as the old clich says: "A happy customer tells a friend, an unhappy customer tells 10 friends." You don't have to worry about the unhappy customer telling 10 friends because you always do a great job and keep your customers happy. But how do you increase the number of friends that your happy customers are sending your way?
Plain and simple: You are going to have to reward them.
The reason that happy customers don't tell many other people about your service is because most customers EXPECT good customer service so the companies that provide it aren't at the front of their mind. They have too many other things to worry about on a daily basis.
By starting a Customer Referral Program you will give your best customers a reason to want to tell other people about you. Offering discounts or special incentives to customers who refer another person or company to your business is a win-win situation.
You may have medical licensing boards or other ethics committees for your profession that restrict you from certain types of rewards and rightly so due to conflicts of interest that may arise. But you can always find something that you can do to reward your customers when they refer someone to you.
Here is an example of a Customer Referral Program for a Direct Mail Company and how it works:
"When you refer someone, and that person places an order, you will receive a $25 credit that can be used toward any of said company's services.
Each time this happens you will receive the $25 credit and there is no limit, so feel free to go crazy referring your friends to us. If you refer enough people who become customers you could end up getting your next order FREE."
When you set up your own referral program you will want to do two things:
First, make sure that the incentive you offer to your customers is in proportion to the price of what you are selling. If your least expensive service is $5000, then a $25 discount is probably not going to be enough to get them interested in spreading the word.
And secondly, you need to promote it. Make sure that your customers know about the new reward program by:
1) Having your sales associates mention it whenever someone places an order.
2) Posting notices in your business if you have customer foot traffic.
and
3) Sending out announcements to your customer address list on a regular basis.
All of these things will help you to increase the number of customers that you receive through word of mouth, and at the same time help keep down your marketing costs. Is this a great idea or what?
Offering discounts or special incentives to customers who refer another person or company to your business is a win-win situation.
Reward the customers that reward you. One of the greatest compliments is when someone refers another or others to your business.
